What are we focusing on this upcoming week?
Writing: This week, students continued their essays while learning more about the difference between evidence vs. elaboration and how to use both effectively. Next week, we will put finishing touches on our informational essays and start opinion essays. All of this is great preparation for GA Milestones!
Reading: This week we read a social studies and science text focusing on main idea and key details as well as read a biography and worked on summarizing. Next week, we will begin our last Unit, Unit 6 as well as practice and review for GA Milestones.
Math: This week we dove into unit 7 with measurement conversions. Next week we will start money conversions and perimeter and area.
MGSE4.MD.1, Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec.
MGSE4.MD.2, Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale.
MGSE4.MD.3, Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.
As we prepare for Ga Milestones, it is important students are completing their homework for extra practice.
