What are we focusing on this upcoming week?
- Writing: Students will continue working on their narrative writing unit. Students will focus on bringing characters to life, logical progressions, punctuating dialogue, temporal transitions, and literary devices.
- Reading: We will be continuing Unit 5: Reading Historical Fiction.
- Standards focused on this week/throughout the unit:
- RL3[3.0_1]: Describe in depth a character in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the text (e.g., a character's thoughts, words, or actions)
- RL3[3.0_3]: Describe in depth an event in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the text
- RL2[3.0_2]: Summarize the text
- RL2 [3.0_1] Determine a theme of a story, drama, or poem from details in the text
- RL6 [3.0_1] Compare and contrast the point of view from which different stories are narrated
- • RL6 [3.0_2] Compare and contrast the difference between first and third-person narrations in different stories

- 4.1: Being Unit 6: Geometry
- Standards throughout the unit:
- MGSE4.G.1 Draw points, lines, line segments, rays, angles (right, acute, obtuse), and perpendicular and parallel lines. Identify these in two-dimensional figures.
- MGSE4.G.2 Classify two-dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines, or the presence or absence of angles of a specified size. Recognize right triangles as a category, and identify right triangles.
- MGSE4.G.3 Recognize a line of symmetry for a two-dimensional figure as a line across the figure such that the figure can be folded along the line into matching parts. Identify line-symmetric figures and draw lines of symmetry.

- MGSE5.NBT.7 Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to hundredths, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.

- Social Studies: Students will learn about the Abolitionist Movement leading up to the events causing the Civil War.

March 2nd: PANTHERS PAGES & PJS!!!
- March 2nd is "Read Across America" day! Panthers are encouraged to wear their pajamas to school and bring their favorite book! During the day, students will also be given the opportunity to choose a new-to-them book to read and take home with them. Also- a member of the administration team will be coming around to the 4th grade classrooms to do a read aloud with students. We're looking forward to an exciting day to celebrate a love of reading!
