What are we focusing on this upcoming week?
Thanks for all the food donated for the food drive! It was a great success!
Supplies for Art:
Ms. Spencer has kindly asked if students could donate some wipes to the art room as her supply has diminished quickly from cleaning up some recent art projects. Hand wipes/ baby wipes and Clorox wipes are both needed! 😊
Writing: We continued our argumentative essays and worked specifically on grabbing the readers' attention in our introduction, using a counterargument, writing to your audience, and concluding with a summary. Next week, we will begin a new argumentative writing piece. We will start by analyzing a prompt, reading sources to collect evidence to support our opinion, and organizing ideas in a graphic organizer.
Reading: This week we read some great biographies as we worked to answer the essential question, how can one person make a big difference? We worked a lot with using details to find the author’s perspective. Next week we will read another biography and an autobiography and discuss the difference between a firsthand account and a secondhand account.
Math: We started with decomposing fractions and adding fractions as well as mixed numbers this week. Next week, we will work on subtracting fractions and mixed numbers.

4.2 (Ms. Smith): Next week in advanced math...
First, we will continue our learning of line plots (MD.4)- plotting data on a line plot and interpreting the data.
Then we will begin our work with angles!
Students will understand that a circle has 360 degrees, and that is how angles get their measurements (MD.5).
Students will also learn how to measure angles using a protractor and how to draw angles of a specific degree (MD.6).
