Exceptional Children’s Week:
We are so excited to celebrate our exceptional children next week. Here are some dress up days to show support and celebrate!
What are we focusing on this upcoming week?
Writing: This week we worked together to gather evidence to plan out our informational essay and started writing it using text evidence and elaboration. Next week we will work on writing a strong conclusion, add transitional words and phrases, and edit. Students will also get a new prompt for an informational essay that they will write more independently.
Reading: This week we read historical fiction and celebrated Read Across American Day on Thursday! Next week we will finish historical fiction and start expository texts focusing on summarizing, using text features, and recognizing text structure.
Math: This week we focused on this standard: 4.G.2 Classify two-dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines, or the presence or absence of angles of a specified size. Recognize right triangles as a category and identify right triangles. Next week we will classify quadrilaterals by parallel and perpendicular lines and angles, recognize lines of symmetry, identify and draw lines of symmetry, and create a symmetrical design.
This unit is heavy vocabulary, so it is important to practice!

4.2 (Ms. Smith): Next week in advanced math...
We will wrap up our practice with subtracting decimals in the beginning of the week.
On Wednesday, we will be reviewing for our test, and the Unit 2 test will be on Friday.
Study guides have been passed out, and students have iReady lessons assigned to help them practice.
