What were our focuses this past week?
- Writing: Students continued working on their realistic fiction stories. They worked to create story arcs, "show, don't tell" writing, and focused on intensifying the problem in the story to create drama.
- Reading: We have continued the class read aloud, Tiger Rising. Students have practiced using details from the story to describe a character and have also practiced synthesizing the text by relating/connecting what they just read to earlier parts of the story.
- Math: **Please refer to the math blog pages for information**
- Science: Weather! Students learned about weather instruments, weather maps, fronts, and forecasting.
- Student Success Skills: Stress management. Students participated in discussions about how our behaviors, thoughts, and emotions are all connected. Scenarios were given for students to think about different possible ways to handle challenging situations.
**Wondering about homework? We highly encourage all students to spend at least 20 minutes per night reading a book of their choosing. They are also free to explore this Weebly site for educational resources as well as complete lessons/games on iReady.
Students have done a great job this past week remembering to bring their computers to school fully charged and ready to go. Thank you all for your help in making this a success!
- If a student forgets their computer at home, they will be responsible for making up their iReady practice time at home for both math and reading. They will also be responsible for completing any other computer based activities that were to be completed in class.
