Meet Your 4th Grade Teachers!
Meet Mrs. Alterman!
Hello! My name is Heather Alterman, and I am so happy to be back teaching 4th grade this year! To let you know a little bit about myself, I am a Georgia State University alum with a BS in Early Childhood Education with an ESOL endorsement. While I was born in White Plains, New York, I was raised in the Duluth/Johns Creek area. I attended Medlock Bridge Elementary and Taylor Road Middle, then moved to Florida for high school. I missed Georgia SO much so I returned after my high school graduation. This is my 5th year at New Prospect, and I am SO proud to be a Panther and working in the district that I attended as a kid.
I have a husband named Jason and together we have a 4 year old daughter named Harper and a Great Dane/Lab mix named Bailey. We also have another little girl on the way due in October! While teaching is my number one passion, I also love spending time at the lake and the beach, hanging out with family and friends, and reading. I am also a HUGE crafter- so expect lots of fun, hands on activities with me this year! I am ready for another fabulous year in fourth grade!
Meet Mr. Pape!
Hello! My name is Tony Pape and I am the new IRR co-teacher for 4th grade here at New Prospect Elementary. I come to New Prospect from Vickery Mill Elementary in Roswell where I was an IRR teacher for grades 2-5. This is my 10th year as a special education teacher and I bring with me diverse experience at both the elementary and middle school levels.
I’m fairly new to Georgia, having moved here from Wilmington NC at the end of last year. I live in Roswell with my wife Heather and our three dogs. We love doing anything outdoors and have really enjoyed exploring our new city.
I am extremely excited to be here at New Prospect Elementary School and look forward to working with a wonderful group of students, teachers and families this year.
Meet Mrs. Widis!
Wendy Widis has been teaching in Fulton County schools since 1995 with a brief six year hiatus from 2001-2007 to have two children, Jordan (16) and Ellie (11). During her tenure in Fulton County, she has taught all grades except fifth. She is a certified Reading Recovery teacher, a 2013 Teacher of the Year, and is currently working on her Math Endorsement. In addition, she is also a RELA Learning Architect with the county to help create a Standards Based style of learning and grading. She has a passion for teaching and enjoys watching children learn and grow in their own way. She enjoys reading and learning about current trends in education and applying new instructional strategies with her students. Outside of school, she stays busy doing volunteer work with her synagogue and for the Roswell HS Marching Band where her son is a member. Go Hornets! This year she will be one of two teachers teaching the RELA (Reading English Language Arts) block to our fourth graders. It's going to be a great year!
