We hope that you all had another wonderful weekend! It's hard to believe that we are finishing up our 1st month of school! So much learning has been taking place and it's been a fun month already! We are looking forward to what the rest of the school year will bring :)
Some General Reminders and Announcements:

Fall Picture Day: Our fall pictures are on August 31st! Remember to dress your best! If you have PE that day, you may bring a change of clothes :)
Math Olympiad: This year, the company called Compass Technology will be holding our Math Olympiad Practices. Are you still looking for an after school program to fit your Wednesday afternoons? Is your child interested in math or competitions? Then sign up for the Math-O-lympics program! Held on Wednesday afternoons from 2:30 - 3:45, this new program to New Prospect Elementary is a great way for your 4th or 5th grade student to have fun while learning. Check out their website at stem.compasstech.com for more details including an open house where you can see what the program will be like. Registration is open until August 31.
From Mrs. David - STEM Lab: If you have any of the following items I would appreciate them! I will be needing these items all year. Thank you so much!!
- Toilet paper and paper towel rolls
- 2 liter bottles
- Shoe boxes, cereal boxes etc.
Blogs: All blogs will be fully up and running this week. Our 'front page (general) blog' with basic 4th grade info has been up and running since before school started, but content blogs will be up starting this week. In our content blogs we detail what the kids will be working on that week, they standards we are addressing, additional homework details, and quiz/test info. We maintain a RELA (reading & language arts), Content (sci/ss) and Math blog in addition to our general blog. We make sure that all 4 blogs are updated by Monday afternoons :) On Mondays, teachers will Tweet our blog or send the link via Class Dojo Messenger (or both!) as a reminder. Please bookmark blogs on computers and devices for easy access :)
Bring Your Own Technology: We will be starting BYOT on Monday the 29th. Please remember, students may only bring their devices if both student and parent have signed and turned in the permission slip to their homeroom teacher. We will have time set aside on Monday to show students how to log on to the FCS Student Wi-fi (a safe and protected wi-fi connection meant for student use). Student's devices are to be put on Airplane Mode upon entering the school. They are not permitted to use cell data to email or text.
Book Donations: If your kiddo has old chapters books at home that they have read a million times and are taking up space, please consider donating them to their classes classroom library! :) We would HAPPILY take them off of your hands, and the kids would GREATLY appreciate the variety!
