What are we focusing on this upcoming week?
- Writing: We are still working on argumentative essays! This week we worked together writing an essay making sure we had 5 paragraphs. We focused on providing strong text evidence to support our reasons and explaining our reasons more through elaboration. This week we really focused on structure. Next week, students will read another student example essay, analyze a new writing prompt, read sources, gather evidence, and prepare to write an argumentative essay more independently.
- Reading: Next week we are finishing a realistic fiction story then reading another expository text that goes along with our essential question of how actions affect others. We are focusing on the standards RL3 (Describe in depth a character, setting, or event in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the text (e.g., a character's thoughts, words, or actions) and RI5 (Describe the overall structure (e.g., chronology, comparison, cause/effect, problem/solution) of events, ideas, concepts, or information in a text or part of a text).
- Math: 4.1 Students will work on rounding as well as adding and subtracting whole numbers. Click here to see the 4.1 blog - http://fourthgradenpes.weebly.com/current-41-math-info
