We hope you had a wonderful weekend and are ready to finish out the last week of school for 2017! It's hard to believe that Winter Break is already upon us! It's been an AMAZING first half of the school year with your awesome kiddos! While it's a short week, we know it's going to be a great one in 4th grade! Please see below for this weeks reminders, announcements, and homework schedule:
Some General Reminders and Announcements:
A Note from Student Council: We will be collecting items for the Humane Society starting Tuesday December 5th. They are in need of the following items:
- Newspapers: For shredding to put in puppy cages, admissions kennels, and puppy suites (this is a huge need–hook us up!)
- Old bath towels, hand towels and fleece make beds for sick or injured animals, to help them feel safe and warm, and for drying off after baths
- Doggy Bags: Help us keep our doggie areas clean while we run and play with our pups by donating any type of doggie poo bags.
- Laundry Detergent: Detergents that get odor and germs out are the best
- Bleach: We use bleach for some of our cleaning; any brand is fine
- Cat grooming supplies: Furminators, brushes and combs all keep our kitties happy!
- Trash bags: 45 gallon or larger
- Milk Bone Dog Biscuits: MEDIUM, SMALL or MINI size only, please! Volunteers use them to train the dogs and cannot break the big ones
Please bring items to Miss Wilson’s room (P145-2/3rd grade hall). We will be accepting donations until Wednesday December 20th
iReady/Redbird: Please don't forget that we have two AMAZING programs available for students to use at home for continued practice in both reading and math (and this makes for GREAT practice while on Winter Break!). iReady (reading and math practice) and Redbird (math practice) are available for students to use and practice with even when they are not assigned for homework. In 4th grade, we aim to incorporate them into our day for at least 20 minutes EVERY day - they are THAT amazing!! :)
Homework & Important Dates for the Week of December 18th:
Homework will look different this week as we participate in "Cheer for Your Peer"! In homeroom this morning, all students chose another student's name (also in their homeroom) at random. This week, they will participate in small acts of kindness for their peer, and these acts of kindness will be created at home as part of their homework. Please note that students are NOT expected to purchase anything! These are all homemade acts of kindness that will simply bring a smile to their peer's face :) Please see the "Cheer for Your Peer" schedule below!
Monday (12/18)
- Design/create a card that will make your peer smile! :)
Tuesday (12/19)
- Write an acrostic poem using the letters in your peer's name. Decorate it however you want!
