What are we learning this week?
Math
Enhanced
Students will begin on a project this week that will culminate everything they have learned in Enhanced Math this year. The project will be collected for a minor grade.

SS
This week, we will continue our 5th and final Social Studies unit on Reconstruction. On Monday, we will watch a video reviewing American history from The Civil War to Reconstruction. On Tuesday, we will review the effects of the Civil War and begin to introduce Reconstruction after The Civil War. On Wednesday, we will discuss the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to The Constitution. On Thursday and Friday, we will introduce and discuss the problems and policies of Reconstruction, as well as Freedman's Bureau and Sharecropping.
Reading
On Monday, students will read two opinion passages, answer questions, and write a constructed response. On Tuesday, students will review a Milestones practice test in order to wrap up our preparation for the week. Students will take ELA Milestones on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week.
Writing
This week will serve as review for writing strategies before students take their ELA Milestones later in the week. On Monday, students will use the passages they read during reading to plan and write an opinion essay. On Tuesday, students will use the passages they read on the practice test to plan and write an informational essay. The rest of the week, students will start a writing project. Students will get to pick from an opinion, informational, or narrative essay to write for a major grade.

- Students took their Math Milestones this week. They will take their ELA Milestones on May 8, 9, & 10. Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest, a good breakfast, and lots of encouragement to do their best! We will take iReady Math Diagnostics the following week on May 13 & 14.
