What are we learning this week?
Math
Enhanced -
In the beginning half of this week, we will be reviewing our first math unit using our study guide, daily practices, hands-on-games, and iReady lesson plans. Our test will be held on Wednesday, September 13 during our math block. On Thursday, we will begin our next unit starting with shape patterns.

Social studies
We will be diving deeper into our American Revolution unit this week in social studies. We will be covering topics such as: The Stamp Act of 1765, The Boston Tea Party, The Boston Massacre, The First and Second Continental Congresses, and The Declaration of Independence. In this unit, we will be using online platforms, discussions, and a project to make it a collaborative experience.
Reading
We are discovering different text features and central themes through diverse genres of text. We will be reading and discussing argumentative, procedural, expository, and narrative nonfiction this week in whole group.
Writing
This week, we will be continuing to write our argumentative essay on whether people should be allowed to build on flood zones. For this essay, students are given substantially more independence in their writing, compared to our guided essay we completed in the weeks prior.
Announcements –
The Book Fair opens next week! Thursday folders included information about our book fair opening and family night next week.
