We hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed feeling the fall weather start to roll in! We are ready to dive into another four days of learning in 4th grade this week! Some General Reminders and Announcements:
No School for Students on October 11th & 14th: Please remember that students will not have school on Friday, October 11th due to a Teacher Workday, and on Monday, October 14th due to Columbus Day. Enjoy your 4 day weekend!
Reflections Entries Due October 10th: Don't forget that reflections entries are due on Thursday! This year's theme is 'Look Within', and students are invited to tell their story through dance, a short film, a poem or story, an original song, a photo or visual work of art. The Reflections program is for ALL students! You do not need to be proficient in the arts to participate!
Box Tops: Don't forget to send in your Box Tops! The class with the most Box Tops submitted by 10/15 will earn a popsicle party!
Don't forget that you can also submit Box Tops digitally now! Steps are below:
- Download the new Box Tops for Education Mobile App
- Scan your store receipt within 14 days of purchase on the App
- EARN CASH FOR OUR SCHOOL :) It's that easy!
Important Upcoming Dates:
Please note that test dates are always considered tentative. If in future the team decides that a test date needs to be changed (usually in the form of being pushed back if we feel that the students are not ready), we will communicate the change to you all. Until then, these dates represent our assessment plan.
- Unit 1 Reading Assessment - Wednesday, October 9th
Homework & Important Dates for the Week of October 7th:
Monday (10/7):
- Reading: Water Cycle & Weather Related Article
- Students can read their realistic fiction novel when they are done with the article to meet their minimum of 20 minutes.
- Students are also welcome to work on/finish their "Unit 1:Interpreting Characters Cafe Menu" at home if needed. The menu is essentially the student's study guide, with lots of fun activities for them to do to practice and prepare. Completed menu's will be due on Wednesday (10/9). You can find your child's 'menu' in their binder behind their RELA tab in their binder.
- Math (All Groups): Day 1 Spiral Review
Tuesday (10/8):
- Reading: Read for 20 min and log
- (Optional) Unit 1: Interpreting Characters Cafe Menu for Reading
- Math (All Groups): Day 2 Spiral Review
Wednesday (10/9):
- Reading: Read for 20 min and log
- Math (All Groups): Days 3 & 4 Spiral Review
- Reading: Unit 1 Interpreting Characters Assessment
