We had a great short week!
9 Week Progress Reports Visible in Infinite Campus:
As a reminder, students’ 9-week progress reports will be visible in Parent Portal today! You will notice that your child's progress report includes academic grades in all content areas, as well as non-academic skills. Students will receive feedback on these non-academic skills at each 9-week marking period. Please see below and attached for a "Quick Facts" document, which provides details about non-academic skills and what they entail. If you have any specific questions about your child's grades, please don't hesitate to reach out to his/her teacher(s).
Also, we hope to see you this evening for NPE's Outdoor Family Movie Night, which will begin at 5:30 PM. Bill's Grills will not be there tonight, so be sure to pre-order your whole pizza now. Don't forget to bring your own blankets and chairs for the event!
What are we focusing on this upcoming week?
- Writing: We continued diving into expository essays this week! Students read and analyzed their new prompt and started to read sources to gather information. Next week, we will finish reading the sources and then organizing their ideas in a graphic organizer before they begin to draft later in the week.
- Reading: We will continue reading dramas next week and work on understanding the story elements of a drama as well as looking for clues throughout the drama to determine the theme. We will also do a little bit of poetry and talk about figurative language.
- Math: Review packets went home today! The unit 2 math test is Friday 10/21. Please have students bring review packets to school each day. They will be due Thursday and are great resources to study aznd practice. Next week, we will continue with long division strategies and review all concepts before the test. MGSE4.NBT.6 Find whole-number quotients and remainders with up to four-digit dividends and one-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models. Review Packets will go home on Friday.
- We highly recommend they practice their math and division facts at home during this unit.

We will finish up the G.2 standard by classifying quadrilaterals by their lines and angles.
Next, we will move on to symmetry (G.3). Students will recognize lines of symmetry and draw lines of symmetry for different shapes and figures.
Since our test in on October 28th, students will receive their study guide next Friday, and I will also post it here. Students will complete their study guides independently, but we will go over the answers in class closer to the test date:)
