What are we learning this week?
Math
Enhanced -
Our Unit 3 math test will be held this week on Wednesday (11/15). We will spend the beginning of this week reviewing concepts for our test. This unit is over multiplicative comparison, multiplication and division, mass and volume conversion, and elapsed time review. Students worked on a study guide in class the past week, and we will go over it on Tuesday. The study guide is also posted on this website under Math. After the test, we will start our new unit on fractions.

Social Studies
This week, we will continue our new social studies unit on The New Nation. Students will discuss the Three Branches of Government, The First Amendment, and The Bill of Rights. On Thursday and Friday, students will create a Bill of Rights Project for a major grade.
Reading
This week, we will read and discuss a new genre, biography - narrative nonfiction. We will be discussing authors perspective, text features, synonyms and antonyms, and summarizing.
Writing
In writing this week, will continue our argumentative essay on why the Civil Rights Movement was needed. On Friday of this week, student's will be graded on one of their body paragraphs for a practice grade.
Announcements
- The New Prospect Spelling Bee will be held on Tuesday, December 5th at 8:00 AM. Each 4th grade class will conduct a classroom spelling bee on November 13th to determine a winner and runner-up to represent each class. The winners of the class bees will advance and have the opportunity to compete in the New Prospect Spelling Bee. The winner of the school bee will go on to represent New Prospect at the Fulton County Spelling Bee on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 8:30 AM (location TBD). Your child’s teacher has explained this to the class and offered spelling study lists to the students if they are interested in studying for the classroom and school bees. Participation is not required. If you would like a copy of the School Spelling Bee Study List and grade level study words, please reach out to your child’s teacher to send home a copy.
