We hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We had so much fun celebrating our CCRPI success with a pizza party on Friday afternoon! Thank you again to Mrs. Lemons, Student Council, and Peace, Love & Pizza for making that happen! There was no better way to end the week :)
Please continue reading to check out our reminders, announcements, and homework schedule for the week. As always, please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions!
Some General Reminders and Announcements:
Book Fair: It's Book Fair time! Your child's teacher will be communicating with you their class preview/buying dates for this week or next. As always, if your child would like to purchase something from the book fair, but don't have money on the official 'buying' day, they will be allowed to visit the book fair in the morning.
TAG Week of 11/18: On the week of the 18th, TAG days will be switched. Students will NOT attend TAG on Thursday, but will instead attend on Tuesday (11/19). The switch will occur this week only. (Additionally, TAG students will NOT miss the class Spelling Bee. We will hold the Bee first thing in the morning on the 19th, and TAG will report to their teachers immediately following the end of the Bee.)
Thanksgiving Feast: Please be sure to send in Thanksgiving Feast papers and money as soon as possible if you plan to attend! This will help the cafe plan accordingly for the big day! We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, November 21st!
Class Spelling Bees: We will hold our class Spelling Bees on the morning of November 19th! Students received an official Spelling Bee word list to practice from (if they wanted - this was not mandatory) a few weeks back. All 4th & 5th grade homeroom winners will participate in the School Spelling Bee on Thursday, December 5th!
Thanksgiving Break: Please remember that Thanksgiving Break is the week of the 25th. IF your child will be absent any days the week of the 18th (specifically the 21st/22nd), PLEASE notify your child's teacher. Students will be having a math and reading assessment those days before the break, and we would like students to take these before break, rather than after if they are going to be absent on the assessment days. Thank you for your attention to this matter :)
Important Reminders from Administration:
- Morning Arrival: The earliest time that students can be dropped off at the school is 7:10am each morning. School does not begin until 7:40am and we do not have staff supervising students prior to 7:10. We have had several students waiting in the lobby in the mornings before our front office staff are here. This is a safety issue. Please make sure to wait until staff are ready to receive students before you leave your child. Thank you.
- Changes in Afternoon Transportation: In order to ensure the safety of students, the following rules for departure from school will apply:
- 1 - If a student does not plan to go home in the regular manner, the student must show a letter of permission from the student’s parent or legal guardian to the classroom teacher before school begins in the morning.
- 2 - If it is necessary for a student to leave school early, a note must be sent to the student’s teacher. Any student leaving before the regular dismissal time must be signed out through the office by a parent, legal guardian, or a parent designee. Students must be dismissed prior to 2:05 pm. After 2:05 pm, children will be dismissed in their regular way.
- 3 - Students will only be released from the office. Parents/guardians are not to pick up the child from the classroom.
- 4 - Students can be released to a parent’s designee only after the parent or guardian has notified the school in writing.
- 5 - Anyone may be asked to show a driver’s license to verify identification and permission to pick-up.
- What to do if your child is absent: When your child misses a day of school it is important to let the school know why your child is absent so we can mark our attendance accurately.
- 1 - Please send a note or e-mail to your child’s teacher stating the reason for the absence. If emailing, please copy [email protected] . For an absence to be excused, a note must be provided to the school within 5 days of returning to school.
- 2 - For pre-approved absences (i.e. attending a family wedding or graduation) please e-mail Amy Lemons at [email protected]
Important Upcoming Dates:
Please note that test dates are always considered tentative. If in future the team decides that a test date needs to be changed (usually in the form of being pushed back if we feel that the students are not ready), we will communicate the change to you all. Until then, these dates represent our assessment plan.
