On Wednesday, students will take the Unit 5 Math Test. The standards and study guide for this unit are posted on this website under 'Math'. Social Studies
This week, we will continue on Unit 4 - The Civil War. We will be discussing the role of Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, The Battle of Gettysburg, The Atlanta Campaign, Sherman's March to the Sea, and the events at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia. Students will continue to take notes and work on their Civil War project, which is due for both a major and minor grade the following week. Student's notes will be taken as a practice grade.
Reading
This week, our main focus will be on reviewing firsthand and secondhand accounts. On Tuesday, we will read passages on Benjamin Franklin and discuss the account, while discussing similarities and differences between the two. On Wednesday and Thursday, we will introduce a magazine article and a memoir to continue to compare accounts of the same topic. This will help us prepare for our Unit 5 Reading Test on Friday (March 22).
Writing
On Tuesday, students will turn in their informational essay, Comparing Sea Animals, for a minor grade. Later in the week to prepare for milestones, students will use what they have learned about analyzing a prompt, planning, and writing an informational essay off of two texts to write an informational essay independently in a test taking environment.

-At Fulton County Schools, we truly value the feedback from our parents about their experiences with the district. That is why I encourage all parents to take the Annual Parent Perception Survey. This survey allows parents the opportunity to tell us what they think about their student’s schools and the district. While we always make it a priority to listen to our parents, this survey affords us another opportunity to receive your thoughts and opinions.
The survey is anonymous and confidential. Please complete one survey per school where you have one or more students enrolled. The survey will remain open from Monday, February 12 through Friday, March 15.
It’s not only parents we want to hear from. Our students’ opinions are important too! Students in grades 3-12 will be provided with the opportunity to take the Annual Student Perception Survey between February 12 and March 15 during the school day. In our ongoing efforts to remain transparent with parents, please take a moment to review the 3-5 student survey and/or the 6-12 Student Survey.
The Annual Perception Survey is currently available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Hindi, and Punjabi. If you or your family would like to take it in a language that is not listed, please email your child’s principal.
The parent FAQ is now available in: To access the parent survey, click https://www.fultonschools.org/annualparentsurvey Thank you in advance for making your voice heard!
GA Milestones Device Preparation - Secure Practice “Stress Test” next week:New Prospect 3rd – 5th Grade students will be participating in a districtwide “stress test” in preparation for the upcoming Georgia Milestones. This will occur next week on Wednesday, March 20th at 9:00AM. The purpose of the “stress test” is to check our student devices by simulating a testing environment to see the stress it puts on the DRC Insight Testing application and the FCS network. In addition, students will be able to preview the available tools accessible within the testing platform and practice procedures that will be used for prepping their devices, logging in, and navigating the questions within the platform. This is only a practice and not a graded or evaluative assessment in any way.
