Walks for Water Fundraiser & Event Registration
We had middle schoolers return to our 4th and 5th grade classes today and presented about the importance of having access to clean water and informed us of countries that do not have easy access to clean water.
They also invited us to register for their event on February 26th, 2023 from 2-5pm at Webb Bridge Middle School. If you can, please consider helping them reach their fundraising goal by donating or registering and participating in their fun event! They are trying to raise $20,000 to repair 20 wells in the villages of South Sudan.
Students received a packet with a QR code to a registration link! This is a great opportunity to help out people in need while also having fun!

What are we focusing on this upcoming week?
Writing: This week we started poetry! We are working on writing free verse poems including imagery, metaphors, similes, and personification. Next week, we will continue to work on writing creative and descriptive poems.
Reading: This week we started reading poetry! We talked about different poetry terms like metaphors, similes, imagery, and personification. We read many free verse poems, which are poems that don’t have a rhyming pattern. We will read a few more poems next week and review reading expository texts and finding the central idea and key details to help prepare for our text on Tuesday February 14th.
Math: This week we compared and ordered decimals. Next week, we will focus on the standards MGSE4.NF.5 Express a fraction with denominator 10 as an equivalent fraction with denominator 100, and use this technique to add two fractions with respective denominators 10 and 100. For example, express 3/10 as 30/100, and add 3/10 + 4/100 = 34/100
and
MGSE4.NF.6 Use decimal notation for fractions with denominators 10 or 100. For example, rewrite 0.62 as 62/100; describe a length as 0.62 meters; locate 0.62 on a number line diagram.
