We will 'journal' daily in our Number the Stars journal as we practice various reading skills, and we will then apply those skills while reading our independent historical fictions novels!
Writing - Writing Celebration, Goal Setting & Review
- This week we will be celebrating our published informational chapter books, reflecting on our writing thus far and setting goals for the rest of 4th grade, and participating in some review activities before we begin our new, super fun March Madness project next week!
Important Announcements & Reminders:
- Weekly Lesson Plans: You will notice this week that our usual 'Lesson Plans' button is gone :) We are transitioning back to our normal weekly content/unit updates (how we shared what the students were learning pre-covid) . This was worked back into our blog a few weeks ago (see above). Please reference the above unit updates to know what your child is learning about in the different subjects! Also - you are ALWAYS welcome to check our Teams to see past assignments that have been graded (with feedback provided) or current assignments. Your child can show you how to view these 😉
- Hero Squad Fundraiser to Fight Blood Cancer: New Prospect Elementary is participating in the Hero Squad Program to raise funds for blood cancer research and patient support services through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. During Kindness Week February 16-19th, classes can raise money through a virtual platform https://events.lls.org/pages/ga/New-Prospect-Elementary-School-2021 to help fight childhood cancer. (This is being repeated since the blog will be coming out the 19th, which is the last day to donate! )
- Spring Picture Day: Next Wednesday February 24th is Spring Picture Day. We figured out a way to make class pictures digitally. Students will all get their picture taken in front of a green screen, then BPI will “create” a class picture from the individual ones. Fall pictures cannot be used for this because they are not in front of a green screen. All face-to-face students will be photographed with their class on the 24th. If you would like your virtual student to be photographed for the class picture, then you will have to bring them to school on that day during the below times:
- 11:15-11:45 PK-2 Virtual Students
- 11:45-12:15 3-5 Virtual Students
- 12:15-12:30 5th Grade Class Picture (socially distanced, outside with drone)
**All students must wear a mask to school and have no COVID symptoms.
