Remote Learning Day (December 6th):
Work will be sent home on Monday December 5th for students to complete at home during the remote learning day on December 6th. Attached to the front of the packet will be a choice board of assignments students “Must do” and assignments students “May do.” These will be due on Wednesday December 7th.
What are we focusing on this upcoming week?
Writing: We started a new argumentative writing piece. We started by analyzing a prompt, reading sources to collect evidence to support our opinion, and organizing ideas in a graphic organizer. Next week, we will begin drafting and focus on text structure and including action verbs.
Reading: This week we read another biography and an autobiography and discussed the difference between a firsthand account and a secondhand account. Next week, we will complete the iReady reading diagnostic and read an argumentative-expository text.
Math: We worked on subtracting fractions and mixed numbers as well as word problems involving addition and subtraction of mixed numbers and fractions. Next week is an interesting week, we will be watching the spelling bee as a class, doing the iReady math diagnostic, and then working on multiplying fractions.

4.2 (Ms. Smith): Next week in advanced math...
We will have an interesting week! Because of the school Spelling Bee, the Remote Day, and the iReady Diagnostic, we will only have one lesson next week.
Students will continue measuring angles using protractors, and they will practice drawing angles of certain measurements.
Because our test is on 12/14, students will receive their Unit 7 study guides on Wednesday. I will post the study guide here, and I will also assign iReady lessons for students to use to study.

IReady Mid-Year Diagnostic Assessment:
Our grade level will be taking the iReady Mid-Year diagnostic assessment when we return from break. We will take the Reading Diagnostic on 12/5 & 12/7 at 9:30-11:00 and the Math Diagnostic 12/8 & 12/9 at 8:00-9:25.
This assessment is not used for a grade, but is used for instructional purposes both within the classroom by us as teachers and to help aide in placement decisions. These diagnostic assessments help provide us with valuable information so that we can target instruction in both reading and math!
