We sincerely hope that you had a wonderful 4 day Valentine weekend! We are ready for another busy and exciting week in 4th grade! Below are our updates for the week :)
Some General Reminders and Announcements:
Google Expeditions: Tomorrow (2/17), we will be taking part in program called Google Expeditions where students will have the chance to choose and explore one of three programs available to us! These programs include To the Moon, London Literacy, and Biomes. We are so excited for this fun opportunity!
International Night: International Night will be back again at New Prospect this year! Orange flyers came home last week detailing information on this event. We would love to have as many countries participate as possible so please consider being a part of this fun night! Your presentation could include artifacts, foods, pictures, flags, art, or whatever represents your country and heritage! Your family can sign-up to present your country by completing the orange form and returning it to school with your child, or online via this link: http://newprospectes.wix.com/internationalnight.
Read to Succeed: If your child is interested in participating in the Read to Succeed program (and getting a free ticket to Six Flags!), there is still plenty of time left! Students must read for six hours and log it on the provided reading log in order to receive a free Six Flags ticket/certificate in May. Reading logs are due to Mrs. Bercher by February 26th. Reading logs are available at these links: http://static.sixflags.com/readtosucceed/Y20152016/StudentReadingLog.pdf or http://static.sixflags.com/readtosucceed/Y20152016/StudentReadingLog_Spanish.pdf.
Club Pictures: Club pictures for the yearbook will be tomorrow (2/17) throughout the day, so please remind your child if they need to bring a specific shirt for these pictures. Students who are new to our school and did not have their individual picture taken in the fall will also have their picture taken at this time.
Snowflakes & Hotcakes: Our annual Snowflakes and Hotcakes event is coming up in a few weekends on Saturday, February 27th! This is great fundraiser that PTA puts on and is always a big hit! Purple forms went home last week with information and signups for tickets. The fourth grade teachers are auctioning off several spots for a pizza party with us as well that we are really excited about! :)
PSC's and STAR Reports: Progress Skills Checklists and Winter Administration STAR reports will be coming home on February 25th, so mark your calendars for these! They will be coming home in our Report Card envelope, which will need to be signed and returned to your child's homeroom teacher.
Science Lab Thank you! Thank you so much to all who volunteered for our Light & Sound Science Lab! These labs are truly not possible without your assistance- and we thank you from the bottom of our heart for providing such a rich learning experience for our children!
