We hope you all had a great weekend, even though it was a rainy one. We are excited for another bust week in 4th grade! Please read below for our weekly updates :)
Some General Reminders and Announcements:
GA Milestones Testing Experience: We are pleased to announce that a refreshed Experience Online Testing Georgia website is now available with a demonstration test for each of three grade bands – grades 3-5, grades 6-8, and high school – with sample items from each content area. While the 3-5 and 6-8 grade bands will contain Science and Social Studies items, please be reminded that these two content areas will be assessed in grades 5 and 8 only. The primary purpose of this website is to provide exposure to the online platform that students will utilize when taking the Georgia Milestones tests. The highlight of this year's refresh of the site are examples of multiple-part, multiple-select, and evidence-based selected-response items. As communicated, these item types will be operational beginning with the Winter 2016 End of Course (EOC) administration in the areas of English Language Arts and Mathematics and with the Spring 2017 End of Grade (EOG) and EOC. These item types will be field tested, for the first time, in Science and Social Studies in Spring 2017 for both the EOC and EOG. Items that are field tested do not impact the scores of students. In addition, questions 1-5 will illustrate the Reading & Evidence-Based Writing section of ELA. Using a Chrome browser only, enter the following link to access the site: http://www.gaexperienceonline.com/
Yearbook - A Message from PTA: Have you purchased a yearbook? Why not spend $25 on something that your student will keep FOREVER? To invest in your child’s memories and purchase the yearbook, visit the following link: www.smart-pay.com and locate New Prospect from the drop down menu. If you have any questions about yearbook sales, you may contact the yearbook committee at [email protected].
Early Dismissal Form: With winter approaching, it’s that time of the year when we send home our Inclement Weather/Early Dismissal Form. Especially come January/February, we run the risk of Winter Weather that impacts our school day without notice (and sometimes with a little bit of notice the night before), and we may have to release the kids early. On Thursday, we will be sending home in the student’s green folders this year’s Early Dismissal Form. It is a triplicate form (3 pages) so that way you, NPE front office staff, and myself will have an emergency plan in place. Please make sure when you are filling out the triplicate, your writing can be read on the final (bottom) page. J
Please note that whatever you put on the form is the dismissal procedure we will follow in the event that school is cancelled in the middle of the day. Additionally, if a half day is called the night before, we will also follow the dismissal procedures indicated on the form unless your child brings in a transportation change note the morning of.
As a reminder, the PINK copy stays home to serve as a reminder for your family. The other two copies need to be returned to school by 12/15/16. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
