We hope that you had another wonderful weekend!! We are excited about another week in 4th grade :)
Some General Reminders and Announcements:
Science and Social Studies Homework: Going forward, we are beginning to incorporate science and social studies into combined PBL (project based learning) units that link with one another. Therefore, homework may be science related one night, and social studies related another night. We will always highlight this for the students (whether it's a science night or a social studies night), but please be aware! :)
STAR: STAR Reading and Math will be taken this week and next week depending on your child's teacher. These are data points that we use in order to determine growth amongst these subjects for individual students. They help us to differentiate for our students based on strengths and weaknesses.
Flyers & Graded Papers: As you may have already heard, all flyers, notices, and paper handouts will be going home with students on Thursday’s. Please know that we will be still be sending home graded work and classroom related information as soon as we have it ready to send out, so it is important to still check your child’s yellow folder every day when they come home from school.
Movie Permission Forms: If you have not already done so, please return the movie permission form designating whether you give your child permission or not to view the PG movie version of the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. We would like to show parts of it to compare and contrast with the play version, as well as the book version. If you have any questions about this, feel free to email your child's homeroom teacher.
Parent PBL Survey: Please also return the PBL parent survey if there is any category on the form that may apply to you or someone you know. In order to fully implement PBL, we need to stakeholders who give our students feedback on their projects. One of our best resources for this is you all! :) We are very excited about these opportunities and appreciate you all taking time to help! The form can be found on the Weebly at this link: http://fourthgradenpes.weebly.com/project-based-learning.html
Recess: Please encourage your child to bring warm clothes for recess! We try to take them outside as often as possible during these colder winter months, but they need to have appropriate clothing that will keep them warm in order to do so. We do not want anyone getting sick!
