We sincerely hope you had a fun weekend! The countdown is officially on to Thanksgiving Break, but there is still a lot of learning to be done! :) Student's tend to get a little antsy/excited about the upcoming break, so please take a moment to remind them of behavior expectations and all of the important work that will be done in the coming weeks :) Thank you!
Some General Reminders:
- Study Guides: Two different study guides were sent home last Friday. One is for our upcoming reading assessment on 11/6 (this Friday) and the other is for our upcoming science assessment on 11/10 (next Tuesday). Once the student's have their study guides, it's their job to work on completing them as well as taking the time out to study. Remember, cramming the night before is not the way to go! Studying in small chunks every day (5-15 minutes) will provide students with the confidence and the knowledge to ace that test!
- Book Fair: Just as a reminder to add to your calendar, students will be visiting the Book Fair next week to preview the book selections, and then we will go back to the Book Fair for our buying day the following week. Feel free to come in at the time we are visiting with our homeroom classes, or you may go back with your child at another point during the day! We will keep you updated with more information in the next week.
- Upcoming Field Trip: Either today or tomorrow students will come home with a field trip permission slip for our first field trip of the semester! We will be going to the High Museum of Art to view a Mo Willems exhibit and participate in a workshop. Mo Willems is a popular children’s author and illustrator. He has written books such as Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus and The Duckling Gets a Cookie?!. This field trip will correlate strongly with many of our reading standards as we will focus on making inferences, identifying themes, making connections, and describing character’s thoughts, words, and actions while we participate in this program. The permission slip can also be found on the Weebly under the Field Trip tab. We would like for these permission slips to be returned by Monday, November 16th.
