Math

This week, we will continue on Unit 5. We will be learning about the classification of types of angles and angle measurements. On Friday, students will have a measuring angles worksheet due for a practice grade.

Science
This week, we are continuing our Science unit on Force and Motion. Students will learn about and discuss the Inclined Plane, Wedge, and Screw. Students will continue to work on their Simple Machines project in class. This project will be taken for two grades, a major and a minor.
Reading
On Wednesday, we will read and discuss a narrative nonfiction text. We will focus on Author's purpose, conclusions, and text evidence. On Thursday and Friday, we will read expository texts. Our focuses these days will be primary and secondary sources, text structure & features, central idea, and homophones & homographs.
Writing
We will use this week as a refresher on informational/ expository essays. On Wednesday, students will be led through whole group instruction on writing introductions and practice their own. On Thursday, we will switch gears to practicing writing conclusions. Students will write a conclusion for a practice grade. On Friday, we will discuss and practice using attributions to cite text evidence properly.

-Students who have flu-like symptoms, and who are ill, have a fever of 100.4°F or greater, chronic diarrhea or vomiting and/or may have a contagious illness (potential or actual) MUST NOT be sent to school and will not be permitted to remain in school. To return to school, a student should be well (have improved symptoms) and they must be free of fever for more than 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.

-This year we will be taking GA Milestones between April 29th-May 10th. The GA Department of Education has created study guides that you can use as a resource for home. The ELA study guide is attached as a paper version, but they have transitioned the math study guides and 5th grade science to their online platform.
