We hope that you had a wonderful weekend! We are ready for another fun (and busy) week in 4th grade! This week's post will be rather short and sweet :)
Some General Reminders and Announcements:
- Field Trip to the High Museum on Thursday!: Our field trip to the High Museum of Art in Atlanta is this Wednesday, December 9th. We will be leaving promptly at 8:45 AM so please make sure your child is on time that morning. We will be eating at the Museum so everything needs to be packed in disposable containers so we can throw it away there, including water bottles. Students will wear their green fourth grade New Prospect t-shirt. If you chose not to purchase a t-shirt, PTA has provided extras that students may borrow that day, but they need to be returned to PTA afterwards. Or, your kiddo can simply wear green :)
- Social Studies and Science on IXL: This is a SUPER important announcement! IXL is branching out to Social Studies and Science! We are currently subscribed to a free trial, and we want all of our kiddos to take advantage of it! Sometime this week your child will come home with an IXL username and password (as these are not linked to the paid student accounts the kids already have for math and language arts). With their new login, students will be able to practice the science and social studies skills that are aligned to the Georgia Performance Standards taught in the classroom. During our free trial we may assign some skills as homework, but more importantly we want the kids to use this awesome resource to review past units and preview coming units. This is a GREAT tool to use over Winter Break to stay sharp! :)
- Winter Party: Our Winter Party will be on Friday, December 18th from 12:30-2. Please remember that if you are choosing to volunteer that you have completed the necessary volunteer requirements :)
- Six Flags Read to Succeed Program: We are participating in the Six Flags reading program, which gives a FREE ticket to Six Flags for students who read/are read to for at least 6 hours of extracurricular reading. It will run NOW through February 19th. Please encourage your child to participate, and to try to read for at least 20 minute increments.
