We sincerely hope you had a WONDERFUL winter break spent enjoying time with family and friends. We are SO excited to be back with the kids; we have missed their smiling faces! This is a short week, but lots of exciting things are happening already!
Some General Reminders and Announcements:
- American Revolution Project: Students are beginning a research project on the American Revolution. A sheet detailing this information came home with students, and it can also be found on our Weebly at the following link: http://fourthgradenpes.weebly.com/research-projects.html. We will be working on this project for several weeks and students will be doing the bulk of the work at school, but they will be asked to spend some of their homework time researching at home as well. We have kid-friendly research websites that the students have access to via the Research tab on our Weebly page and at this link: http://fourthgradenpes.weebly.com/research.html. They may also use books from library (both ours and public).
- Think First, Stay Safe: Students will be coming home with a form from our guidance counselor, Ms. McLeod, detailing information about a personal safety curriculum called Think First, Stay Safe that Fulton County has implemented into our schools. This form must be signed and returned only if you would like your child to opt out of the program, and not have your child participate in these lessons. Mrs. McLeod will be visiting us in February to teach these lessons.
- Field Trip Next Week: Students came home with information on our next Field Trip yesterday. We will be going to the production of the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe at the Fulton Teaching Museum on Thursday, January 14th. Please sign and return the permission slip as soon as possible. It can also be found at this link: http://fourthgradenpes.weebly.com/field-trip-information.html. In addition, we will need a few parents to provide a healthy snack (clementines, goldfish, etc.) for the entire in class in the afternoon on this day since our lunch schedule was changed a little bit to accommodate the program time at the Teaching Museum. We have heard great reviews about the performance and are really looking forward to this opportunity!
- Girls Jr. Raiders LAX: The AHS Jr. Raider Girls Lax Board has been excitedly planning the Spring season! While we have had several new and returning girls register already, we know there are a lot more of you out there. We are counting down the days and need to know who will be returning. Please register ASAP, deadline is approaching soon.
Also, if you haven’t heard, we are very excited to announce that we are starting a U9 team this season! So for any siblings who can’t wait to get started playing like their big sis, now is the time! If you have any younger neighbors that may be interested, please pass this email along to them.
Registration forms are on our website at www.ahsjrraiderlax.com.
Go Raiders!
