This week, students are digging deeper and showing off what they know about the solar system with choice boards. Students have 2 activities that they must complete, which will count as classwork grades. Teachers are meeting with small groups of students who would like help with these activities during classwork time. After students complete the must-dos, they have many options to choose from to finish collecting 100 points. The amount of points they collect will count as a quiz grade. Choice boards are due on Friday, so students have been asked to complete anything they are still working on Thursday night for homework. On Friday, we will be joining Ms. Searcy in the media center for a lesson on the history and future of human spaceflight. She will also discuss how water is recycled in space and what weather looks like on our planet from space. What a great way for students to wrap up and see how all of our science units go together!
Last week in science, we talked all about the solar system. This week, we will be focusing on why there is day and night on Earth, why we have seasons on Earth, and why we see different phases of the moon. We will launch choice boards on Thursday. Students will have a little over a week to collect 100 points, and choice boards will be due the following Friday. One thing we are adding this time, to help students along, each teacher will lead small groups for any student who would like support with the "must-dos" of the choice board. This will ensure that students have time to complete some of the more difficult tasks, which are also the most important for the unit. No test for this unit, but the choice boards will count for a quiz grade.
We are finished with the American Revolution, and now we are starting the 2nd quarter with our 2nd science unit: The Solar System and Earth and Moon. In this unit, students will:
- Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to compare and contrast the physical attributes of stars and planets.
- Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to model the effects of the position and motion of the Earth and the moon in relation to the sun as observed from the Earth.
This week, we will be focusing on how technology helps us learn about stars and planets, how planets and stars are different, how the solar system functions as a system, and how scientists change models of our solar system and why.
We will not start choice boards until next week, mid-week, but we have tons of resources under the "Science/SS" button above, if students want to get ahead on their learning!
Happy Wednesday! This week in Social Studies, students will be wrapping up the American Revolution and completing the Choice Boards. Choice Boards are due Friday, and students will have the opportunity to take home the Choice Board to finish. All materials, links, and other resources can be found in the students Google Classroom, which they can access at home! Here's to a week full of learning!
This week in Social Studies, we are continuing to learn more about the American Revolution! Students will be diving deeper into the major events of the revolution. Students will also be learning about the Declaration of Independence.
Choice Boards are in full swing for this unit! Students have been working diligently and have done a great job so far! Choice boards will be due next Friday.
We are having a great time learning all about the American Revolution!
