We have started our first science unit, Water and Weather. This week, we will focus on the 3 states of water and how it is used in each state. We will also discuss how water travels in the water cycle. Students will be exploring the new science materials, including our new textbooks, workbooks, and online resources. Students have received their very own workbooks, which need to remain in the classroom. Tomorrow, they will be issued their textbooks, which can be brought home whenever they feel like they need to review or study new concepts.
This week, in science, we are still finishing up some of our scientific method experiments from last week. Students have been doing really great with this concept, and I have been very impressed with their team work and out-of-the-box thinking.
Starting Thursday, we will begin our 1st science unit, Water & Weather. In this unit, students will obtain, evaluate, and communicate information 1. to demonstrate the water cycle and 2. to predict weather events and infer weather patterns using weather charts/maps and collected weather data.
Some vocabulary we will focus on this unit include: evaporation, condensation, barometer, anemometer, climate, and air masses.
This week, we will kick off science learning all about the scientific method! We have lots of fun activities planned for students to practice making hypotheses, writing procedures, and drawing conclusions. We will also have lots of opportunities for group work and team building. Such a fun week!!!
