Writing: This week, we are wrapping up our unit on Opinion writing! Students have been working on their persuasive opinion essays by writing about an opinion that might be the belief of multiple people. We will be taking our post-assessment for our opinion unit next week for a language arts quiz grade, and then our pre-assessment for our informational unit later in the week as well. We will complete our Write Score informational assessment this week as a data point for our writing instruction in preparation for Georgia Milestones.
Language Arts: This week, we are learning about relative adverbs, such as where, when, and why as they are used along with a relative clause to tell us more about a noun. For example, the puppy hid his bone where we could not find it. We will continue this standard by working on relative pronouns next week. Students will be expected to incorporate these skills into their writing on a regular basis in order to practice using them as well.
Standards for this Week:
4RI9: Integrate information from two texts on the same topic in order to write or speak about the subject knowledgeably.
4W1: Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons.
4L41a: Use relative pronouns (who, whose, whom, which, that) and relative adverbs (where, when, why).
Homework for this Week:
