Writing: This week, we are continuing our research project on the American Revolution. We needed a little extra time to work on these final technology products for this research, so they will be finished up by the end of this week. Students are making Glogsters, iMovies, Aurasmas, Chatterpix and more! They are turning out really great and the students are putting lots of hard work and effort into them! The standards for this project focus on learning how to research from multiple sources, as well as using technology to create a final presentation and product. In addition, we will take our pre-assessment for our informational unit this week, and begin our writing next week.
Language Arts: This week, we are introducing figurative language by focusing on idioms. An example of an idiom would be "on cloud nine" or "raining cats and dogs". We also discussed the differences between literal language and non-literal language in terms of idioms. Next week, we will continue to discussing figurative language through proverbs and adages. We are also completing a language arts activity as a classwork grade focusing on our most recent grammar concepts learned in class.
