Writing: This week, we are continuing our unit on Opinion writing! We are continuing to work on revising and editing our pieces using our checklists. In addition, we are focusing on introductions and conclusions. We are continuing to use our data binders as we set goals and use those goals to help guide our writing pieces. Students are slowly being encouraged to work through their drafts in a timely manner as we intend to wrap up this unit by the time our break rolls around in a few weeks.
Language Arts: This week, we are learning how adjectives improve our writing dramatically. We are focusing on the specific order that adjectives need to be in so that they sound fluid and appropriate in writing and speaking. Often, students are accustomed to hearing them in the correct manner, but not writing them in this way, so they are encouraged to incorporate this into their writing on a regular basis.
Standards for this Week:
4RI5: Describe the overall structure (e.g., chronology, comparison, cause/effect, problem/solution) of events, ideas, concepts, or information in a text or part of a text.
4W1: Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons.
4L1d: Order adjectives within sentences according to conventional patterns (e.g. a small red bag rather than a red small bag).
