Students will be reviewing their questions from the study guide this week in order to prepare for the end of unit assessment on Thursday, November 15. Since we are working on these study guides in class, they will not come home until Wednesday night. If you review with your child at home, keep in mind that we are focusing on restating and answering the question and supporting their answer with evidence from the text. When giving evidence, students should be using transitional phrases such as, "For example," "For instance," "In other words," etc.
Rubrics are also attached to the study guide. The checklist of items at Level 4 match the bulleted reminders for each question that is asked on the assessment. This has been explained to the students. As long as they refer to those bulleted items and are answering the questions with evidence, they should be well on their way to Level 4 proficiency.
This week some students are still finishing up their personal opinion essays in Google Classroom, while others have begun planning out their persuasive opinion essays in their writing journals. They are using the "Boxes and Bullets" format, again, to organize their thesis statement, reasons, and evidence.
Students are continuing to work on the "Week 5" Word Work Choice Board from last week. Choice Boards are due this Friday, November 16.
