Writing: This week, we are continuing to work on our Opinion pieces by responding to our reading. We started the first part to this before testing by reading our given short stories and reflecting on their content. Students are using these short stories to form a detailed thesis and opinion on the text. They will be expected to provide reasons and evidence as to why they formed that opinion and how it changes their viewpoint of the story or characters within the story.
Language Arts: This week, we are reviewing conventional standards from the year. It is so important that students continue to get into the habit of incorporating these key conventions throughout their drafts and published pieces so that they have a well-written writing piece. It is also key that students learn to use their resources to include these conventions as this is an important skill.
Standards for this Week:
ELACCRI1: Refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.
ELACC4RI8: Explain how an author uses reasons and evidence to support particular points in a text.
ELACC4W1: Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons.
