Only two and half more weeks until our next break, but who's counting?!
In all seriousness, there are only 14 more school days left until the winter break and we are doing our best to tie up loose ends on projects and assessments from before the Thanksgiving break, work on some new routines, and get ready for a new Science unit being introduced later this week. Similar to last week, we will have some hiccups in our "regularly scheduled programming" with a school-wide spelling bee on Wednesday, December 5 and Career Day on Friday, December 7. When these fun events occur, they do eat into our instructional time, so we will be getting creative with how to fit everything in. When it's all said and done, we will get there, but we like to keep you informed when we have weeks that are a bit different from the norm.
Some General Reminders and Announcements:
Hour of Code
This week is the National Hour of Code when students will have opportunities to check out different web sites and activities that revolve around coding. In fact, when students visit the STEM lab this week, Mrs. Davis will be working on coding with the students as well!
Fourth Grade Field Trip to Sparkles of Kennesaw!
Students really enjoyed the field trip. Free admission coupons were sent home with students, so if your child is "hooked" on skating, Sparkles would be a great place to visit over the winter break!
Buzz! Buzz! The Spelling Bee is coming to town!
Wednesday, December 5 from 8-9am marks the annual school-wide spelling bee. The following students were the champions and runners-up for each of the Fourth-Grade homerooms. Only the champions will be competing, but in the event the class champion is unable to attend, then the runner-up will take their place. Good luck to all who participate!

Career Day:
Career Day will occur THIS FRIDAY, December 7 from 8-9:45am. Students will have an opportunity to rotate through the different fourth grade classrooms to hear from parents and community leaders about different jobs and career choices available after high school and college. It's always a great day for the kids!
STEM Lab Donations: The STEM lab is in need of water bottles, 2L soda bottles, toilet paper and paper towel rolls, and boxes (cereal, shoe etc.) If you can donate these items, Mrs. Davis would greatly appreciate it! She will have a donation box outside of her room. Thank you in advance!
