Welcome to our first blog post of the year! We will always update our blogs on Mondays for the current week, so make sure to check back often :) This blog is what we call our "front page blog", where you will find important, general 4th grade reminders and the homework schedule for the week. We also maintain content blogs where you can find more specific information about what we are learning in our current units. These can be found under the 4th Grade Blog header at the top (hover over 4th grade blog and the content area choices drop down will appear). :)
We are excited to embark on our second week in 4th grade!! We had such a great time getting to know your sweet kiddos last week and we are so excited about the new school year! We have been working hard learning all about 4th grade in general, class and school expectations, and classroom procedures. These kids are already rocking it, and we are so proud! What a great group!
Some General Reminders and Announcements:
Transportation Changes: Please remember that you MUST email or send in a note to your child's teacher if you plan for your child to go home another way then what is documented as their 'regular' form of transportation. Please do not simply tell your child to tell us, they MUST have a note :)
Additionally, the earlier you can get your transportation change in, the better (especially if you are emailing us). We want to ensure that we have enough time to see the email, and notify the front desk before dismissal begins. Thank you for your attention to this.
Birthday Treats: If you plan on sending a treat in to school for your child's birthday, please email/send in a note to your child's teacher at least 2-3 days in advance. Many classes have allergies, and this is something your child's teacher will need to communicate with you prior to the treats coming to school.
Blue Folders/Signed Papers: If you have any remaining signed papers that were in the blue NPE folders from Sneak Peek please send them in. We want to make sure we are all up to date with our student information! :) Also, please make sure to check your kiddo's blue folder regularly! Many important papers will be making their way home these next few of weeks :) We typically send home important papers/flyers on Thursday, though some quizzes/tests may come home on other days (we try to send them home asap so they can be reviewed.)
Agendas: Students are to show you their agendas on Monday night. On Monday morning during homeroom we write in our homework for the whole week, along with any upcoming important dates. You only need to sign once for Monday to indicate that you looked at the homework for the week. We will check for your signatures on Tuesday morning during homeroom. Homework will officially start this week (8/19).
Class Dojo: Class Dojo access codes either came home last week, or will be coming home this week so please be on the lookout for them in your child's blue folder. Class Dojo is a wonderful resource for parents to see how their kiddos are doing throughout the day/week! We also use Class Dojo to share what we are doing in our classroom (via pictures/videos) and to message you all when needed.
STEM Lab Needs (From Mrs. Davis): It is time to replenish the Stem “Store.” I am in need of water bottles, small boxes (shoe, etc.), paper (newspaper and magazines), and any cool little things you think our amazing engineers could use.
Latest Panther Press: If you haven't already, check out the latest edition of the Panther Press from Mrs. Lemons which came out last week (8/13)!
