We hope you had a wonderful weekend! We are ready for a another (full) week of learning in 4th grade!! Please see below for this week's reminders and announcements.
Some General Reminders and Announcements:
ISS Flyover Viewing: Members of the NPES family are invited to view the International Space Station as it flies over New Prospect ES next Tuesday morning, September 19 from 6:50-6:56 AM. Meet on the back field at 6:45 a.m., weather permitting. Everyone is invited.
Student Council: Student Council forms are now due Tuesday, 9/19. This date was extended due to Hurricane Irma. Please send these forms in tomorrow if your child wants to run for student council! :) Voting will be this Friday :)
Blue Folders/Signed Papers: Just a reminder, we send home flyers, graded papers and any type of school forms on Thursdays (some tests/quizzes may home earlier). There is a cover page in a pocket inside of the folder that will let you know what type of papers are coming home that week, and a place for you to sign each week. Please still sign this cover page even if there are no graded papers. This lets us know you checked your child's folder and have seen all of their flyers/and other papers. Also, please make sure to remove any flyers from the folders.
Lastly, after homework is checked, these items will be moved from the folder to the designated tab in the student's binder. For example, if the students have a math workbook page for homework, after it is checked in class it can be hole punched and placed behind the math tab in their binders, and this now becomes a resource/study tool for the students. Reading logs are kept behind the reading logs tab. :) We just noticed that some folders are becoming overly stuffed - some still containing flyers/homework from the beginning of the year. We are working with the kids to help them better organize their materials. Please reinforce this with them at home as well :) Thank you so much!
